The Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development is strengthening its collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to leverage digital identity in advancing reforms across Nigeria’s mining sector.
The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, disclosed this following a meeting with the Director-General of NIMC, Dr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team.
According to the Minister, the discussions focused on how Nigeria’s digital identity infrastructure can support ongoing efforts to improve governance, strengthen regulation, enhance security and promote transparency within the solid minerals sector.
Alake noted that a credible national identity system is critical to effective governance, as it enables government agencies to monitor activities, make data-driven decisions and improve regulatory oversight.
