Professor Adedayo Aina has officially assumed office as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose decade-long tenure came to an end following the confirmation of Aina's appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
Aina, a Professor of Biochemistry and former Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, Lagos, officially took over on Friday after Oloyede formally handed over leadership of the examination body.
The new Registrar assumes office at a critical time for the board, following widespread public concerns over the conduct and outcome of the 2025 UTME, which sparked calls for improved transparency and greater reliability in the examination process.
As he begins his tenure, Aina is expected to consolidate on the reforms initiated by his predecessor while addressing operational challenges and restoring public confidence in the nation's tertiary admissions system.
