Ile-Ife, Osun State - The Ooni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has called on the people of Osun State to embrace peace and unity as the state heads into another election season.
The monarch made the call on Sunday during the installation of Prof. Wale Ladipo as the new Sooko Molodo of Ile-Ife, a ceremony that drew top political figures from across Osun State's divide.
Ooni Urges Politicians to Shun Violence
Speaking at the event, Kabiyesi described himself as the natural father of the Oduduwa race and said his palace remains open to every politician irrespective of party affiliation. He stressed that his role, and indeed the throne of Ile-Ife, stands for unity, peace, and harmony among the people, warning against any form of political violence as campaigns intensify across the state.
According to the monarch, no political ambition is worth the bloodshed or bitterness that election seasons sometimes bring, and he urged all stakeholders to see one another first as brothers before politicians.
Top Osun Politicians Grace the Occasion
The installation ceremony attracted a cross-section of Osun State's political class, underscoring the significance of the event beyond its traditional context. Governor Ademola Adeleke was present, alongside Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi and former Senator Iyiola Omisore, a chieftain who has featured prominently in Osun politics over the years.
Also in attendance was the Alayemore of Ido-Osun, one of the prominent traditional rulers in the state, along with several other political leaders and stakeholders from within and outside Osun.
