Nigeria U18 Boys Reach African Championship Final with Straight-Sets Victory over Cameroon

The Nigeria U18 Boys National Volleyball Team secured a place in the final of the African U18 Boys and Girls Volleyball Championship after defeating Cameroon in straight sets in the semifinal match.

The Nigeria U18 Boys National Volleyball Team secured a place in the final of the African U18 Boys and Girls Volleyball Championship after defeating Cameroon in straight sets in the semifinal match.

The championship is being hosted by Pioneer Club in Alexandria, Egypt, from July 20 to 30, 2026, with the participation of 14 African national teams.

The tournament is held under the patronage of Jawhar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria. The Supreme Organizing Committee is chaired by MP Aida Ismail, Member of the Board of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) and Member of the Development Commission of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

How the Semifinal Went

  1. First Set: Nigeria 25-16 Cameroon
  2. Second Set: Nigeria 25-20 Cameroon
  3. Third Set: Nigeria 25-19 Cameroon

Nigeria advanced to the semifinals after topping Pool A with victories over Burundi, Morocco, and Egypt during the group stage. The team then defeated Libya 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

Cameroon, meanwhile, recorded group-stage victories over Libya and Algeria before losing to Tunisia. The team booked its place in the semifinals with a 3-0 win over Burundi in the quarterfinals.

With this victory, Nigeria advances to the championship final, where it will face the winner of the semifinal between Egypt and Tunisia in Sunday's title match.
