A Kano State High Court has sentenced a 19-year-old housewife, Saudat Jibrin, to death by hanging after finding her guilty of murdering her husband, Salisu Idris, just nine days after their wedding.
Justice Maryam Sabo delivered the judgment on Thursday, ruling that the prosecution had established the charge of culpable homicide beyond reasonable doubt.
Passing sentence, the judge told the convict she had 90 days within which to appeal the decision.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred in May 2025 in Farawa, a community in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, where the couple had been married for only nine days before the husband was killed.
