In a bid to promote menstrual hygiene and empower young girls, the Adediran Adeola Foundation has announced its ambitious initiative, One Student, One Sanitary Pad Innovation. The project, which aims to distribute 10,000 sanitary pads to 10 secondary schools in Ogun State, is set to kick off on 25th November 2024, starting in Ijebu Ode.

The initiative is a response to the pressing need for menstrual hygiene education and resources for young girls, many of whom face challenges accessing basic sanitary products. Through this project, the foundation hopes to address stigmas surrounding menstruation while ensuring that female students remain confident and focused on their education.

The project is spearheaded by Adeola Adediran, a final-year student of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) and a passionate advocate for youth empowerment. Adeola, who is also a former student union leader, is widely recognized for her impactful contributions to the TASUED community. Her leadership and dedication to social causes continue to inspire many.

The One Student, One Sanitary Pad Innovation project is further strengthened through a partnership with the Treasured Heart Foundation, a collaboration that amplifies its reach and ability to make a lasting difference in the lives of young girls.

Speaking on the motivation behind the project, Adeola highlighted the foundation’s recent success at TASUED, where 1,000 sanitary pads were distributed to female students. She noted that the positive impact and feedback from that event inspired the foundation to expand its reach to secondary schools.

“We believe no girl should have to miss school or feel ashamed due to lack of access to sanitary products,” Adeola said. “This is why we are taking this mission to secondary schools across Ogun State, starting with Ijebu Ode, to ensure every girl has the tools and education needed for healthy menstrual hygiene.”
