Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, will donate one-third of his fortune to charity as part of a long-term succession plan, according to his daughter, Halima Dangote.

Halima, who serves as a trustee of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, disclosed the plan in an interview with Bloomberg published on Tuesday. She said the billionaire businessman had secured the backing of his family to dedicate 33 per cent of his estate to philanthropy, ensuring that charitable giving remains a central part of his legacy.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Dangote's net worth is estimated at 35.1 billion dollars. Based on that valuation, one-third of his wealth would amount to approximately 11.7 billion dollars, making the planned donation one of the largest philanthropic commitments by an African billionaire.

Halima explained that the decision reflects her father's long-standing belief that wealth should be used to improve lives and create lasting social impact beyond business success.
